Speaker: Guillaume Aubrun (UCB Lyon) Title : "Alice and Bob meet Banach" Abstract : We define quantum entanglement and explain its role as a resource in quantum information theory. We also introduce the "local theory of Banach spaces" which studies convex sets of large dimension and show how it can be used to undestand quantum entanglement. For example, Dvoretzky's theorem (stating roughly that convex sets in high dimensions have sections which are almost spherical) can be used to deduce properties of entangled states which occur only in large dimensions.
